Coming up on Wednesday from Verizon Center, the Xavier Musketeers and the Georgetown Hoyas will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Xavier enters this game with a 24-4 record overall. The Musketeers had a nine-game winning streak going, but lost to Villanova in their last outing. In that game, Xavier guard Trevon Bluiett put up 26 points.
Bluiett is also the top scorer for Xavier on the year with 19.8 PPG and 5.6 RPG. Also in double-figures for the Musketeers are JP Macura (12.4 PPG) and Kerem Kanter (10.2 PPG; 5.0 RPG).
Over on the Georgetown side, they’re sitting at 15-10 this season. The Hoyas have won their last two games, taking out Butler on Tuesday. In that one, Georgetown forward Marcus Derrickson put up 27 points.
Jessie Govan is the leading scorer for Georgetown this season, with 16.7 PPG and 10.0 RPG. Derrickson is the only other Hoyas player in double-figures with 16.2 PPG and 8.1 RPG, while Jamorko Pickett is close on 9.4 PPG.
Xavier is 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six following an ATS loss. The Musketeers are also 6-2 ATS in their last eight versus the Big East and 26-10 ATS in their last 36 overall.
Meanwhile, the Hoyas are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win and 5-0 ATS in their last five overall. Georgetown is also 5-0 ATS in their last five versus the Big East and 11-23 ATS in their last 34 home games.
Xavier is on a pretty good scoring run lately, but they’re also giving up a lot of points. The Musketeers have surrendered at least 90 points in four of their last five games. Georgetown is also in the same boat, but they took Xavier to overtime in a 96-91 loss back on February 3. I think the Hoyas can duplicate that at home here.
