The Butler Bulldogs and the Georgetown Hoyas meet in Big East college basketball action from the Capital One Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Butler Bulldogs will look to build some steam after snapping a 3-game losing streak with a 70-68 win over Seton Hall in their last outing. Paul Jorgensen led Butler with 18 points on 7 of 9 shooting with 4 threes while Nate Fowler added 15 points on 5 of 7 shooting with a pair of triples and Kamar Baldwain added 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Butler in the win. Sean McDermott added 7 points to match his team-high 7 rebounds while Aaron Thompson dished out a team-high 6 assists. Baldwin leads Butler with an average of 17.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while Thompson leads the Bulldogs in assists with 4.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Butler is averaging 72.7 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 36.7% from behind the 3-point line and 73.1% from the foul line this season.

The Georgetown Hoyas will look to keep things going after winning 3 of their last 4 games after a 76-67 win over Providence in their last outing. Josh LeBlanc led the Hoyas with 17 points on 5 of 8 shooting with a 6 of 6 mark from the foul line and a team-high 11 rebounds for the double-double while Jessie Govan and Mac McClung each had 13 points. Govan added 7 reboudns while McClung had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jamorko Pickett added 12 points on a perfect 4 for 4 from 3-point range while James Akinjo had 10 points and a team-high 8 assists to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Georgetown in the win. Govan leads the Hoyas with an average of 18.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while Akinjo is Georgetown’s top assist man with 5.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is averaging 82.1 points per game on 45.2% shooting from the field, 37.4% from behind the 3-point line and 73.3% from the foul line this season.

Butler is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games while the over is 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. Georgetown is 15-38-1 ATS in their last 54 home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games against a team with a losing road record while the over is 25-9 in their last 34 games overall. Butler is 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.

I’ve been the first guy to rag on Georgetown as I simply don’t trust the Hoyas on most nights to pull out a cover let alone a win. However, Georgetown has stepped up their play as of late, and while the Hoyas at home have been a far from profitable play in recent years, the Hoyas have had their way against Butler and I think it happens again here as something just doesn’t feel right with this year’s Butler team. I’ll lay the points with Georgetown in what should be another back and forth encounter between the two sides.

Georgetown -2.5
