The Creighton Bluejays and the Georgetown Hoyas meet in Big East conference college basketball action from the Capital One Arena on Monday night.

The Creighton Bluejays are in dire need of a win to snap a 4-game losing streak after an 81-66 loss to St. John’s in their last outing. Marcus Zegarowski led the Bluejays with 17 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 5 threes and a share of the team-high with 4 assists while Davion Mintz came right behind with 16 points and Martin Krampelj had 14 points with a team-high 9 rebounds and a pair of blocks. Ty-Shon Alexander added 10 points to finish off the group of double-digit scorers for the Bluejays in the loss, while Mitch Ballock added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists of his own in the defeat. Alexander leads the Bluejays in scoring with 17 points per game while Krampelj leads Creighton in rebounding with 6.2 rebounds per game and Ballock leads the Bluejays in assists with 3.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Creighton is averaging 83.5 points per game while shooting the 3rd-best field goal percentage in the country at 50.7%, along with the 2nd-best 3-point percentage at 42.9%, along with a 66.3% mark from the foul line this season.

The Georgetown Hoyas will look for some consistency after splitting their last 6 games after a 74-71 loss to Marquette in their last outing. Mac McClung led the Hoyas with 24 points on 7 of 11 shooting with 4 threes while Jessie Govan added 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting with 3 threes and a team-high 9 rebounds. Kaleb Johnson added 12 points on an efficient 5 of 6 shooting to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Georgetown in the loss, while James Akinjo was held to 8 points on just 1 of 10 shooting from the field but did add 7 rebounds and a team-high 8 assists in the defeat. Govan leads Georgetown with an average of 19.7 points and 8 rebounds per game while Akinjo leads the Hoyas in assists with 4.9 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is averaging 82.8 points per game on 45.4% shooting from the field, 36.4% from behind the 3-point line and 73.3% from the foul line this season.

Creighton is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games while the over is 10-4 in their last 14 Monday games. Georgetown is 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 conference games and 6-16-1 ATS in their last 23 games overall while the over is 16-5 in their last 21 home games. Creighton is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

Creighton has had the bulk of the recent success between these two teams, and given how the Bluejays shoot the rock, it’s tempting to back Creighton in a pick ‘em scenario. However, Creighton has also looked brutal during this losing streak with the exception of the Marquette game where they scored 104 in double overtime. And while I’ve been the first to rag on Georgetown, the fact is that the Hoyas have picked up wins here and there and have been competitive in conference while the one thing that the Bluejays have done consistently over the last two weeks is lose. Creighton has lost 4 of their 5 road games by double-digits this year while Georgetown is 9-3 SU at home, so while I don’t know that the margin of victory is that wide, I think it makes sense to back the Hoyas at home in this pick ‘em scenario.
