The DePaul Blue Demons and the Georgetown Hoyas meet in Big East college basketball action from the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.

The DePaul Blue Demons will be out to snap a 3-game losing streak after a 79-67 loss to Creighton in their last outing. Max Strus led the Blue Demons with 18 points on 7 of 17 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 8 rebounds while Eli Cain added 14 points and a team-high 4 assists. Flynn Cameron chipped in 11 points on a perfect 4 of 4 shooting from the floor with 3 triples while Femi Ojujobi and Devin Gage each had 10 points with Olujobi shooting a perfect 4 of 4 with a pair of threes in just 16 minutes to round out the group of double-digit scorers for DePaul in the losing effort. Strus leads DePaul in scoring with 17.2 points per game while Gage leads the Blue Demons in assists with 3.8 assists per game and Paul Reed leads DePaul in rebounding with 8 rebounds per game this season. As a team, DePaul is averaging 75.5 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the field, 33.9% from behind the arc and 71.8% from the foul line this season.

The Georgetown Hoyas will look to bounce back after their own 82-69 loss to Creighton in their last time on the floor. Jahvon Blair led the Hoyas with 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting with 3 threes while Greg Malinowski added 12 points and 4 assists as the only other Georgetown player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Josh LeBlanc added 7 points to match hits team-high 7 rebounds while James Akinjo added 7 points and a team-high 8 assists. Jessie Govan had 9 points with 3 rebounds and a pair of steals but still leads Georgetown with an average of 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while Akinjo leads the Hoyas in assists with 5.3 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is averaging 81 points per game on 45.1% shooting from the field, 36.6% from behind the arc and 73.9% from the foul line this season.

DePaul is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a double-digit loss at home and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 road games while the over is 5-2-1 in their last 8 Wednesday games. Georgetown is 10-21-1 ATS in their last 32 games overall and 16-39-1 ATS in their last 56 home games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games following a loss. DePaul is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at Georgetown.

Both of these teams are in dire need of a rebound after losing to Creighton in their respective last outings, but I like DePaul’s chances at keeping this one close if not winning it outright. The last two meetings at Georgetown and three of the last 4 meetings overall have been decided by 3 points or less and quite frankly, I think DePaul has the deeper team of the two here and can negate the power of the likes of Govan and Akinjo for the Hoyas. I think the points hold some value given the tight history between these two teams, so I’ll take a shot with DePaul and the points here.

DePaul +5.5
