The 15th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles will travel to Capital One Arena to take on the Georgetown Hoyas this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The 15th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles won their 3rd straight game and improved to 14-3 (3-1 Big East) on the season after defeating the Seton Hall Pirates, 70-66, this past Saturday. Marquette led by a 40-30 margin at halftime and held off a late rally by the Pirates, to remain a perfect 12-0 at home on the season. Marquette shot 40.7% from the field and 26.1% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Markus Howard who had 26 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals.

On the season, Marquette is averaging 79.6 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles are averaging 9.5 three-pointers per game on 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marquette has been led by Markus Howard (25.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.1 spg), Sam Hauser (13.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.3 apg), Joey Hauser (10.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.0 apg), and Sacar Anim (7.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Marquette is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 40.1% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles have a rebound margin of 7.9 and a turnover margin of -2.2.

The Georgetown Hoyas snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 12-5 (2-2 Big East) on the season after defeating the Providence Friars, 96-90 in 2 OT, this past Saturday. In a tight back and for game, Georgetown was able to pick up the big conference victory after holding Providence scoreless over the final 1:50 of the 2nd OT. Georgetown shot 45.3% from the field and outrebounded Providence by a 50-45 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Hoyas was Jessie Govan who had a double-double with 33 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 assist, and a steal.

On the season, Georgetown is averaging 83.5 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Hoyas are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 35.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Georgetown has been led by Jessie Govan (20.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.2 bpg), James Akinjo (14.5 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.8 apg), Mac McClung (12.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Josh LeBlanc (9.4 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg, 1.1 bpg).

Defensively, Georgetown is allowing their opponents to average 77.9 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field. The Hoyas have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of -1.3.

The Golden Eagles are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Hoyas are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games.

Marquette is well known for their ability, led by Markus Howard, to put up points on the board as they currently rank 57th in scoring offense, however, the Golden Eagles defense has taken a major step forward this season and currently ranks 118th in scoring defense & 44th in defensive FG%. Georgetown is an athletic team that currently ranks 24th in scoring offense & 48th in rebound margin, however, the Hoyas can struggle slowing down opposing offenses as they rank just 305th in scoring defense.

Marquette is a solid team this season, however, they come into Georgetown just 1-2 in road games this season, with both losses coming by 20+ points. Georgetown is 9-2 at home this season and between the fact that I think they’ll be able to find success on the offensive end and have the size to battle the Golden Eagles on the boards, I taking Georgetown and the points in this one.

Pick:
Georgetown Hoyas +3
