Big East college basketball action gives us the Georgetown Hoyas hosting the Providence Friars.

The Providence Friars have opened Big East play with consecutive defeats after a 65-59 loss to Villanova as a three point home dog.

Providence defended well enough but their offense didn’t hold up their end of the bargain with the team entering the game averaging almost 74 points.

Makai Ashton-Langford kept the Friars competitive with a 20 point performance followed by Isaiah Jackson with eleven points and six boards.

Alpha Diallo gave Providence ten points and seven rebounds while Nate Watson contributed six points and another eight rebounds.

The Georgetown Hoyas dropped to 1-2 in the Big East following an 81-75 defeat at Xavier as a four point underdog on Wednesday.

Georgetown looked good through 20 minutes with a five point lead but their defense didn’t hold up with the Musketeers connecting at 46.7% and sinking seven more free throws.

Jesse Govan led the Hoyas upset bid by pouring in a game high 27 points with eight rebounds while James Akinjo added 13 points and six helpers.

Greg Malinowski gave Georgetown 12 points, six boards and six assists followed by a nine point performance from Jamorko Pickett.

Providence are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and under is 6-2 in Providence last 8 Saturday games. Georgetown  are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. Big East and over is 22-5 in Georgetown last 27 overall and over is 13-3 in Georgetown last 16 vs. Big East.
