The Providence Friars and Georgetown Hoyas meet Wednesday in college basketball action at the Capital One Arena.
The Providence Friars need a win after losing five of their last eight games. The Providence Friars are averaging 70.2 points on 40.3 percent shooting and allowing 66.7 points on 42 percent shooting. Alpha Diallo is averaging 14 points and 8.2 rebounds while David Duke is averaging 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds. Luwane Pipkins is dishing 2.9 assists and Nate Watson is grabbing 4.5 rebounds. The Providence Friars are shooting 31.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.3 percent from the free throw line. The Providence Friars are allowing 31.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 35.5 rebounds per game. The Providence Friars have lost four of their last five road games.
The Georgetown Hoyas look for a win after splitting their last 10 games. The Georgetown Hoyas are averaging 76.6 points on 44.5 percent shooting and allowing 72.9 points on 42.5 percent shooting. Mac McClung is averaging 16.4 points and 2.6 assists while Omer Yurtseven is averaging 16.3 points and 10.1 rebounds. The Friars are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games. The Hoyas are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games. The over is 5-2 in Friars last 7 Wednesday games. The over is 4-1 in Hoyas last 5 home games. The underdog is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The road team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings.
The Providence Friars dominated the first meeting back on New Years Eve, winning by 16 points and shooting 54 percent from the field. However, Providence isn't the same team on the road where it loses by an average of 5.2 points and shoots 38.7 percent from the field. The Georgetown Hoyas are finding ways to hang around despite injuries to Omer Yurtseven and Mac McClung, and there seems to be some progress with McClung to the point I could see him returning for this contest. Either way, the Hoyas are a different team at home and that win over Butler is the type of performance that could lead to a strong finish of the regular season. I'll take Georgetown and whatever the line is.
