The Line: Georgetown University Hoyas +4.5 -- Over/Under:
We have some Big East conference college basketball action on Saturday afternoon, as the Seton Hall Pirates take on the Georgetown Hoyas.
The Seton Hall Pirates will be looking to rebound from back-to-back losses, including an 88-85 loss to Marquette in their last outing. Desi Rodriguez led the Pirates with 21 points on 6 of 14 shooting with a pair of threes and a 7 of 11 mark from the foul line with 4 assists, while Myles Powell came 2nd with 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting with 4 threes. Khadeen Carrington added 15 points with a team-high 5 assists while Ismael Sanogo and Angel Delgado each added 11 points to finish off the double digit scoring for the Pirates in the loss, with Delgado adding a team-high 7 rebounds while Michael Nzei added 7 boards of his own in the loss. Rodriguez leads the Pirates in scoring with 17.6 points per game while Carrington leads the way in assists with 4.4 assists per game and Delgado is averaging a double-double per game with 13.3 points to match his team-high 11.8 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Seton Hall is scoring 78.6 points per game on 47.2% shooting from the field, 37.2% from behind the arc and 66.7% from the foul line this season.
The Georgetown Hoyas will look for a big win here to snap a 4 game losing streak after a 73-69 loss to Providence in their last outing gave the Hoyas their 6th loss in their last 7 games. Jessie Govan was the only Hoya to score in double figures with 27 points on 11 of 18 shooting with 7 rebounds. Marcus Derrickson added 9 points to match his team-high 9 rebounds, while Jamorko Pickett added 7 points, 7 boards and a team-high 3 assists in the losing effort. Govan leads Georgetown by averaging a double-double per game with 17 points and 10.1 rebounds per game while Jonathan Mulmore is the Hoyas’ top assist man with 3.4 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgetown is scoring 78.2 points per game on 45% shooting from the field, 35.5% from behind the arc and 78% from the foul line, the 7th-best free throw percentage in the country.
Seton Hall is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Saturday games. Georgetown is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 conference matchups while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Seton Hall is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings at Georgetown.
The problem for me is that whenever I go against Georgetown, they find a way to pull it out. However, I’m not expecting that to be the case here. The Hoyas are reeling and don’t have much else going outside of Jessie Govan. Seton Hall is a balanced team that can give the Hoyas fits, and have had a lot of success in this matchup, and on the road no less, so I’ll lay the points with the Pirates here.
