Georgetown Hoyas -2 -- Over/Under: 155.5
The Seton Hall Pirates will travel to Capital One Arena to take on the Georgetown Hoyas this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Seton Hall Pirates lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 16-11 (7-8 Big East) on the season after being defeated by the St. John’s Red Storm, 78-70, this past Saturday. Seton Hall had no answers for the Red Storm in the 1st half and couldn’t fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 38-20 margin. Seton Hall shot just 25.0% from beyond the arc and committed 22 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Pirates was Myles Powell who had 26 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Seton Hall is averaging 73.7 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Pirates are averaging 6.9 three-pointers per game on 33.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Seton Hall has been led by Myles Powell (21.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.6 apg, 2.0 spg), Myles Cale (10.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg), Quincy McKnight (10.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.8 spg), and Sandro Mamukelashvili (8.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.7 apg).
Defensively, Seton Hall is allowing their opponents to average 71.5 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Pirates have a rebound margin of -0.3 and a turnover margin of 1.3.
The Georgetown Hoyas improved to 17-11 (7-8 Big East) on the season after defeating the DePaul Blue Demons, 82-73, this past Wednesday. Georgetown had no trouble offensively agianst the DePaul defense and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 49-34 halftime lead. Georgetown shot 49.2% from the field and 35.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Hoyas was Jessie Govan who had 26 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and a steal.
On the season, Georgetown is averaging 81.0 ppg on 45.2% shooting from the field. The Hoyas are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 36.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Georgetown has been led by Jessie Govan (18.2 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.2 bpg), Mac McClung (13.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.1 apg), James Akinjo (12.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 5.4 apg), and Josh LeBlanc (9.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.1 bpg).
Defensively, Georgetown is allowing their opponents to average 77.7 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Hoyas have a rebound margin of 4.1 and a turnover margin of -1.3.
The Pirates are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record, however, are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up loss. The Hoyas are 17-39-1 ATS in their last 57 home games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games.
Seton Hall has won 4 of their last 7 games and come into this match-up ranked 145th in scoring offense, 148th in FG%, and 183rd in scoring defense.
Georgetown has lost 3 of their last 5 games and although their offense has been solid, ranking 28th in scoring offense, the Hoyas have struggled defensively as they rank just 316th in scoring defense and 166th in defensive FG%.
Georgetown has been tough at home this season, posting a 12-5 record, however, it’s hard to trust the Hoyas as this is a team that has really struggled defensively and has allowed their opponents in their last three losses to average 81.7 ppg. Seton Hall has had an up and down season, however, as they were able to put up 91 points in a victory at home agianst the Hoyas earlier this season, I think their balanced offensive attack led by Myles Powell will be able to do enough to at worst, cover with the points in this one. Good Luck!
