The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and the Georgia Southern Eagles meet in Sun Belt conference college basketball action from W.S. Hanner Fieldhouse on Thursday evening.

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will look to build on back-to-back wins and victories in 6 of their last 7 games after an 85-75 win over Arkansas State in their last outing. Daishon Smith led the Warhawks with 24 points on 7 of 13 shooting with 4 threes and 4 assists while Michael Ertel added 19 points on 4 of 14 shooting with a 10 of 10 mark from the foul line and a team-high 6 assists. Travis Munnings and JD Williams each had 18 points to finish off the group of double-digit scorers for ULM in the win, with Munnings shooting 6 of 13 with 3 threes and a team-high 9 rebounds while Williams shot 5 of 13 with 3 triples of his own. Smith leads the Warhawks in scoring with 21.1 points per game while Munnings leads Louisiana-Monroe on the glass with 6.7 rebounds per game and Ertel leads the Warhawks with 2.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Louisiana-Monroe is averaging 76.3 points per game on 44% shooting from the field, 41.2% from behind the 3-point line, the 7th-best 3-point percentage in D-I, and 76.4% from the foul line this season.

The Georgia Southern Eagles will look to build some steam after picking up a 77-64 win over UT-Arlington in their last outing. Quan Jackson led the Eagles with 21 points on 6 of 13 shooting with 5 threes and 6 rebounds while Isaiah Crawley added 15 points on 7 of 10 shooting with 6 rebounds and Elijah McCadden added 12 points with 5 rebounds. David-Lee Jones Jr. chipped in 11 points and a team-high 4 assists to round out the scoring in double figures for the Eagles in the winning effort. Simeon Carter added 7 points and a team-high 8 rebounds while Tookie Brown added 4 points to match his 4 assists. Jackson leads the Eagles in scoring with 16.3 points per game while Crawley leads Georgia Southern on the glass with 5.3 rebounds per game and Brown leads the Eagles in assists with 5 assists per game this season. As a team, Georgia Southern is averaging 85.4 points per game on 50.4% shooting from the field, 30.9% from behind the arc and 66.1% from the foul line this season.

Louisiana-Monroe is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 conference games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win. Georgia Southern is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 home games while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. The underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

Georgia Southern has had success ATS at home dating back to last season, but even then I’m not sure they should be this much of a favorite here. Louisiana-Monroe hasn’t played the toughest stretch over the last month, but the fact is that the Warhawks have scored 80 or more points in 4 of their last 5 games, all wins, with the lone exception being a loss to LSU. Georgia Southern can score, but they’re only outscoring opponents by 3 points per game at home this season and 0.3 points overall, so I think that if the Warhawks keep pace, they can definitely keep this one close too so I’ll take Louisiana-Monroe and the points here.

Louisiana-Monroe +8
