The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and the Georgia Southern Eagles will meet up on the college basketball court Friday in the Sun Belt Tournament.

Louisiana-Monroe enters this one at 18-14 overall. The Warhawks took out Appalachian State in the first round of the tournament and then drilled Coastal Carolina 80-50 on Thursday to move on.

In the win over the Chanticleers, Louisiana-Monroe’s lead scorer was Michael Artel with 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Travis Munnings added 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists for the Warhawks in that one as well.

Over on the Georgia Southern side, they’re 20-11 this season. The Eagles won six consecutive games versus South Alabama, Troy, Coastal Carolina, App State, Little Rock and Arkansas State but dropped to Georgia State in their last outing.

In the loss to the Panthers, Georgia Southern’s top scorers were Tookie Brown and Isaiah Crawley, each with 19 points. Crawley doubled up with 10 rebounds for the Eagles in that one, and Brown had five assists with five boards.

The Warhawks are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win of more than 20 points. The under is 4-0 in the Warhawks’ last four neutral-site games and the over is 4-0 in their last four Friday games.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five neutral-site games and 5-2 in their last seven Friday games. Georgia Southern is 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the Sun Belt.

Georgia Southern has been on a nice run over their last seven games or so, aside from the loss to the Panthers. Interestingly enough, LA-Monroe took them out in their previous defeat February 8 by a score of 88-79.

The Warhawks are a tricky little team, and they’re building a nice run of momentum as they plow through this tournament. I’m going to go with Louisiana-Monroe and say they can keep pace here in what should be a great matchup.
