Georgia Southern Eagles -10.5 O/U: 152
The Texas-Arlington Mavericks and the Georgia Southern Eagles will meet up in college basketball action on Thursday.
The Mavericks enter this one with an 8-11 mark on the year. The Mavericks have won their last four outings, taking out App State, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State and Little Rock during that span.
In the win over the Trojans, UT-Arlington’s top scorer was Markquis Nowell, with 21 points and seven assists. Also in double-figures for the Mavericks there were Rayjon Tucker (15 points) and Kamani Johnson (11 points; seven rebounds).
Over on the Georgia Southern side, they’re 12-7 this season. The Eagles fell to Louisiana on January 12, but since have toppled Troy 90-82 and South Alabama 88-86.
In the overtime win against the Jaguars, GA Southern’s Tookie Brown put up 26 points to lead the way. Montae Glenn doubled up for the Eagles on 18 points with 13 rebounds, and Quan Jackson added 17 points.
The Mavericks are 4-0 ATS in their last four Thursday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. Texas-Arlington is 4-0 ATS in their last four versus the Sun Belt and 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the Sun Belt and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. Georgia Southern is 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 0-5 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win.
UT-Arlington has put together a nice little run lately, and they’ve been able to open things up in a couple of games. In two of those four outings, the Mavericks put up 82 points.
Georgia Southern is just a better team altogether though, hence the thick line here. Still, I’m going to dub myself a believer in the Mavericks’ renewed offense and take UT-Arlington on the cover here. A lot of the ATS trends seem to fall that way as well.
