The Denver Pioneers and the Gonzaga Bulldogs will meet up in college basketball action on Friday.
Denver rolls into this one at 5-8 on the season. The Pioneers have won three of their last four games, dropping to UC Irvine but taking out Western State, Wyoming and Montana State in that span.
In the Bobcats game, Denver’s Ronnie Harrell led the scoring on 24 points with five rebounds. The only other two Pioneers in double-figures there were Tory Miller (11 points; six rebounds) and Ade Murkey (10 points, five assists; three rebounds).
Over on the Bulldogs’ side, they’re 10-2 this season. Gonzaga’s victories have come against Idaho State, TX Southern, Texas A&M, Illinois, Arizona, Duke, ND State, Creighton, Washington and Texas-Arlington.
In the Mavericks game, Gonzaga’s Rui Hachimura was the top scorer on 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Brandon Clarke also posted a double-double with his 17 points and 13 rebounds there.
The Pioneers are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 non-conference games and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Denver is 1-4 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven road games.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. The over is 4-1 in Gonzaga’s last five Friday games and 5-2 in their last seven following an ATS win.
Denver is playing better over their last handful of games, and though they’ve got some close competitive losses on their resume this year they’ve also got some real stinkers that didn’t amount to much at all.
As for Gonzaga, they’ve been pretty darn good this year and are plowing through just about everything that isn’t nailed down. As of right now I’m okay with taking Denver on a slim cover, but if the line thins up much more that won’t be the case.
