The Hampton Pirates welcome the Winthrop Eagles to town in Big South college basketball on Thursday.

The Winthrop Eagles picked up an 80-78 OT win versus the Charleston Southern Buccaneers as a seven point favorite on Saturday.

Winthrop’s win against Charleston Southern ended a two game skid with the win over the Buccaneers and stayed one game ahead of Presbyterian for third in the Big South.

Adam Pickett was the Eagles top weapon with 20 points and eight rebounds with Bjorn Broman adding 15 points, six boards and four assists.

Josh Ferguson gave Winthrop 14 points and another six boards followed by Charles Falden and Nych Smith with eight and seven points.

The Hampton Pirates are gunning for a third straight win after upsetting the Radford Highlanders 74-71 on Saturday as an eight point underdog.

Hampton’s first season in the Big  South  has been  unspectacular thus far at 7-7 for 8thin the standings with two games to play.
Jermaine Marrow led the Pirates upset with 26 points and four assists followed by Akim Mitchell who tossed in eleven points.

Hampton received ten points and four pulls from Kalin Fisher while Lysander Bracey chipped in with seven points and five pulls.

Winthrop Eagles are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up win and Winthrop Eagles are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games following a ATS loss.

Hampton Pirates are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and Hampton Pirates are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 vs. Big South.

Winthrop has the far better record and is a top four team and this is a toss up? Something looks fishy...
