The Columbia Lions and the Harvard Crimson meet in college basketball action from Lavietes Pavilion on Saturday.
Columbia comes into this one at 6-17 overall. The Lions are riding a six-game losing streak right now, falling to Cornell, Yale, Brown, Penn, Princeton and Dartmouth in that time.
In the loss to the Green, Columbia’s lead scorer was Mike Smith with 18 points, four assists and two rebounds. Jack Forrest added 14 points and two boards there, and Ike Nweke had 10 points with two rebounds.
Over on the Harvard side, they’re 15-7 on the year. The Crimson are 2-3 in their last five games, falling to Penn, Princeton and Brown while otherwise beating Yale and Cornell.
In the win over the Red, Harvard’s lead scorer was Chris Ledlum with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both Chris Lewis and Danilo Djuricic had 13 points with five rebounds apiece there, and combined for three assists.
Harvard is 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 3-1-1 in the Crimson’s last five overall and the under is 11-5 in the last 16 home games.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 5-2 in Columbia’s last seven overall and 4-0 in their last four versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
It’s been a tough run for Columbia lately. The Lions had a four-game run going with 67 points or fewer in each, but stayed with Princeton reasonably well on 74 points last weekend. The Lions dropped to 63 points against Dartmouth, but only lost by two which is quite an improvement.
As for Harvard, they’ve been pretty sketchy on defense lately but all in all they’re still scoring pretty well. I like the Crimson to keep it rolling here and bang out a cover.
