The Hawaii Warriors battle the CS Northridge Matadors in a Big West college basketball bout on Saturday.

The CS Northridge Matadors haven’t been able to get going for the majority of 2017-18 so goal number one is to avoid the conference basement. CS Northridge has dropped five in a row following a 77-56 defeat at the UC Irvine Anteaters. The Matadors were outshot 50.8%-34.5% for a difference of 12 baskets.

Tavrion Dawson topped the Matadors offense with 18 points and six boards on 6-12  shooting and 6-7 at the line. Terrell Gomez and Lyrik Shreiner gave CS Northridge eleven points with Shreiner hauling in ten rebounds while Michael Warren added eight points, six pulls and five assists.

The Hawaii Warriors have gone from a top four squad in the Big West but have suddenly fallen on hard times with four consecutive defeats following a 64-60 loss to UC Riverside as an eleven point home favorite. Hawaii struggled to find their shot at 33.3% which made the Highlanders 42.9% shooting a winning effort.

The Warriors more offense with just a pair of double digit scorers to lean on. Hawaii saw Michael Thomas toss in 18 points with three yanks on 6-13 from the floor and 6-7 at the stripe. Brocke Stepteau gave the Warriors eleven points on 3-8 shooting while Drew Buggs chipped in with seven points.

Under is 7-1 in CS Northridge last 8 vs. Big West and under is 16-5-1 in CS Northridge last 22 overall and under is 6-2 in CS Northridge last 8 road games. Road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings and CS Northridge are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

Hawaii might be slumping but I think they have the firepower to win big in this spot…

Pick:
Hawaii -10.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
