The UNLV Rebels collide with the Hawaii Warriors in west coast college basketball.

The UNLV Rebels squeezed by Brigham Young 92-90 in overtime to end a three game skid. UNLV appeared to be in control with a 17 point lead at the intermission but couldn’t get a stop in the second half. The Rebels were outshot 52.9%-44.1% but a 13-27 performance from beyond the arc and a 27-13 advantage at the stripe ignited the offense.

Joel Ntambwe paced the big offense of UNLV with 22 points and eleven rebounds on 6-8 accuracy and 7-8 at the line with Kris Clyburn and Amauri Hardy netting 21 points each. Noah Robotham gave the Rebels 12 points followed by Cheikh Mbacke Diong with ten points and six boards.

The Hawaii Warriors are eyeing a third straight win after  routing Mississippi Valley State 76-51 as a 20 point home favorite. Hawaii ran out to a 19 point lead after 20 minutes and were never challenged behind 52.8% shooting while limiting the Delta Devils to 35%.

The balanced Warriors offense saw Drew Buggs toss in 13 points with four pulls and six helpers on 6-7 marksmanship while Brocke Stepteau and Zigmars Raimo netted 12 points apiece with Raimo hauling in eight rebounds. The Warriors received eleven points from Eddie Stansberry Samuta Avea and Jack Purchase combined for 15 points with Purchase totaling 13 rebounds.
Hawaii is never an easy trip but I think a focused UNLV gets the win…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
