The James Madison Dukes and Hofstra Pride will square off at North Charleston Coliseum in the Quarterfinals of the CAA Men’s Championship this Sunday afternoon.

The 8-seed James Madison Dukes kept their season alive and advanced to the Quarterfinals of the CAA Men’s Championship after defeating the 9-seed Towson Tigers, 74-73, last night. James Madison trailed by a 65-54 margin with just 7:36 left in regulation, however, the Dukes were outstanding defensively down the stretch and was able to secure the come from behind victory after the Dukes Matt Lewis hit the game-winning three-pointer with just :04 seconds left in regulation. James Madison shot 50.0% from the field and 43.8% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Dukes was Dwight Wilson who had 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist.

On the season, James Madison is averaging 70.4 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Dukes are averaging 7.4 three-pointers per game on 35.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, James Madison has been led by Stuckey Mosley (17.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.1 spg), Matt Lewis (15.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg), Darius Banks (12.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.8 spg), Dwight Wilson (9.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg).

Defensively, James Madison is allowing their opponents to average 72.9 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Dukes have a rebound margin of 1.0 and a turnover margin of -1.5.

The Hofstra Pride finished their regular season with an overall record of 25-6 and earned the 1-seed in the CAA Men’s Championship after finishing conference play with a 15-3 record. Hofstra at one point had the nations longest winning streak at 16-games this season and come into postseason play winners of 6 of their last 8 games. Hofstra was led by their explosive offense that comes into this game ranked 8th in scoring offense, 11th in FG%, 15th in 3P-FG%, and 2nd in FT%.

On the season, Hofstra is averaging 84.3 ppg on 49.2% shooting from the field. The Pride are averaging 9.1 three-pointers per game on 39.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hofstra has been led by Justin Wright-Foreman (26.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.9 apg), Eli Pemberton (15.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.4 apg), Desure Blue (11.1 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 5.4 apg, 2.5 spg), and Jacquil Taylor (8.2 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.7 bpg).

Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average  72.5 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Pride have a rebound margin of 1.0 and a turnover margin of 3.1.

The Dukes are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games and just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS win. The Pride are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games following a straight up win, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

James Madison and Hofstra split their regular season series as the Dukes upset the Pride by a 104-99 (OT) in late February on the road while the Pride won by a 85-68 margin at James Madison in late January.

James Madison has been playing better as of late as they’ve won 4 of their last 7 games, however, the Dukes haven’t been anything special on either end of the court this season as James Madison comes into this game ranked just 246th in scoring offense, 218th in scoring defense, and 282nd in defensive FG%. Hofstra has had over a week to rest since their 92-70 victory to end their regular season and as I think the Hofstra offense will have no trouble putting up points in this one, I think the Pride win this one by double-digits and cover this spread. Good Luck!

Hofstra Pride -9.5
