The Monmouth Hawks collide with the Hofstra Pride in Wednesday college basketball.
The Monmouth Hawks early season struggles continued Saturday in a 65-43 defeat at Bucknell that has the team staring at an 0-9 start. Monmouth defended well enough with the Bison connecting at 39.6% but 17 turnovers and their own 32.7% marksmanship was not enough to stay competitive.
The Hawks did not have a player reach double figures in the scoring column with the threesome of Deion Hammond, Ray Salnave and Mustapha Traore tossing in eight points apiece with Traore hauling in ten rebounds. Sam Ibiezugbe and Diago Quinn gave Monmouth six points each with Quinn adding five boards and two blocks.
The Hofstra Pride ran their record to 5-3 with a 78-52 rout of Kennesaw State on Saturday. Hofstra took control early with a 15 point lead after 20 minutes and never looking back. Hofstra connected at 52.7% and allowed Kennesaw State to hit shots at only 28.6%.
The Pride saw a game high 20 points and five assists from Justin-Weight-Foreman on 8-14 from the floor with Eli Pemberton adding 15 points and seven rebounds on 2-10 accuracy. Hofstra received ten points from Jalen Rayfollowed by a nine point five pull effort from Tareq Coburn on 2-4 from the field and 4-5 at the line.
Monmouth Hawks are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and Monmouth Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Colonial Athletic Association and Monmouth Hawks are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. Hofstra Pride are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games Hofstra Pride are 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall and Hofstra Pride are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.
I generally don’t like laying this kind of chalk but Hofstra has the potential to win by a lot…
