The Hofstra Pride welcome the Rider Broncs to town for a Saturday college basketball tilt.

The Rider Broncs fell to 2-2 in 2018-19 following a 92-78 defeat at West Virginia as a 12 point road underdog. Rider held a slight 45.5%-42.9% shooting edge but the Mountaineers turned 22 fouls into 12 more makes at the foul line.

Jordan Allen and Dimencio Vaughn gave Rider eleven points each with Vaughn hauling in eight rebounds while Kimar Williams and Anthony Durham combined for 18 points.

The Hofstra Pride have been playing well the past few weeks but the team looked shaky in a tight 75-73 win over visiting Monmouth as a 15 point home favorite on Wednesday. Monmouth burned the nets at 50.9% with Hofstra countering at 44.9% with a 12-23 effort from beyond the arc and 19-9 edge at the stripe to prevail.

Justin Wright-Foreman poured in 30 points with seven rebounds and four assists on 10-23 from the floor including four bombs to save the Pride while Eli Pemberton added 14 points and four pulls on 3-10 shooting and 7-8 at the line. Hofstra received nine points and six assists from  Desure Buie with Stafford Trueheart chipping in with eight points.

Over is 23-7 in Rider last 30 overall and over is 16-5 in Rider last 21 road games and over is 16-5 in Rider last 21 non-conference games. Over is 9-2 in Hofstra last 11 home games and Hofstra are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall and Hofstra are 19-39-1 ATS in their last 59 home games.

Hofstra was not impressive against Monmouth and another effort like that could be a loss…

Pick:
Hofstra -1.5

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
