Hofstra Pride -12 -- Over/Under: 151
The William & Mary Tribe will travel to the Mack Sports Complex to take on the Hofstra Pride this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The William & Mary Tribe had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 9-15 (5-7 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Northeastern Huskies, 72-60, this past Thursday. William & Mary had no answers on the defensive end for the Huskies and couldn’t fight back after Northeastern took a 52-38 lead with 11:33 left in the 2nd half. William & Mary allowed Northeastern to shoot 50.0% from beyond the arc and committed 20 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for the Tribe was Nathan Knight who had a double-double with 18 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks.
On the season, William & Mary is averaging 74.7 ppg on 46.6% shooting from the field. The Tribe are averaging 8.6 three-pointers per game on 34.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, William & Mary has been led by Nathan Knight (19.2 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 3.7 apg, 2.1 bpg), Justin Pierce (14.6 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 3.3 apg), Matt Milon (12.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Chase Audige (10.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.4 spg).
Defensively, William & Mary is allowing their opponents to average 77.5 ppg on 46.3% shooting from the field. The Tribe have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of -2.2.
The Hofstra Pride improved to 20-4 (10-1 CAA) on the season after defeating the Elon Phoenix, 102-61, this past Thursday. Hofstra made quick work of Elon in this one and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 28-5 lead midway through the 1st half. Hofstra shot 56.9% from the field, 48.6% from beyond the arc, and committed just 1 turnover in the victory. Leading the way for the Pride was Tareq Coburn who had 21 points, 7 rebounds, and an assist.
On the season, Hofstra is averaging 81.7 ppg on 48.7% shooting from the field. The Pride are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 37.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hofstra has been led by Justin Wright-Foreman (25.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.3 apg), Eli Pemberton (15.2 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.3 apg), Desure Buie (10.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 5.0 apg, 2.4 spg), and Tareq Coburn (9.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg).
Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Pride have a rebound margin of 2.7 and a turnover margin of 2.8.
The Tribe are 37-18-2 ATS in their last 57 games following a straight up loss, however, just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Pride are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 22-6 ATS in their last 28 games overall.
William & Mary has lost 6 of their last 8 games and although their offense has been decent as they rank 140th in scoring offense, & 78th in FG%, the Tribe have really struggled defensively as they rank just 308th in scoring defense & 303rd in defensive FG%.
Hofstra was impressive in their first game since their 16-game winning streak was snapped earlier this week against Northeastern and have been outstanding offensively this season as the Pride currently rank 30th in scoring offense, 19th in FG%, and 33rd in 3P-FG%.
William & Mary has some decent offensive players, led by Nathan Wright, however, the Tribe come into this game with just a 2-10 away record and a defense that has really struggled to keep opponents off the scoreboard. Hofstra had all they could handle from the Tribe in a triple-OT victory at William & Mary and as I think their offense will be able to put up 90+ points agianst the Tribe at home, I’m taking Hofstra to cover this double-digit spread. Good Luck!
