The Bucknell Bison and the Holy Cross Crusaders meet in Patriot League college basketball action from the Hart Center on Monday night.
The Bucknell Bison will try to jump another spot in the Patriot League standings, improving to 6-8 in conference play after a 72-68 win over American last time out. John Meeks leads the Bison with 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Jimmy Sotos is 2nd in scoring and tops in assists with 11.1 points and 4 assists per game. Avi Toomer also has 11.1 points with 4.4 rebounds while Andrew Funk has 10.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game as the last double-digit scorer for Bucknell this year. As a team, Bucknell is averaging 68.1 points on 41.8% shooting from the field, 33.8% from 3-pooint range and 71% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 72.9 points on 46.5% shooting from the field and 33.4% from behind the arc this season. Bucknell is 2-11 straight up and 3-10 against the spread on the road this season.
The Holy Cross Crusaders will look to pick up a win to try to get out of the Patriot League basement following a 7th straight loss in the form of a 72-62 loss to Lafayette last time out. Joe Pridgett leads Holy Cross in scoring and rebounding with an average of 17.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while Drew Lowder is 2nd in scoring with 14.1 points per game and Austin Butler is 3rd in scoring and tops in assists with an average of 12 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Holy Cross is averaging 67.7 points per game on 44% shooting from the field, 33.2% from behind the arc and 68.2% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 79.9 points on 49.7% shooting and 36.7% from behind the arc this season. Holy Cross is 2-10 straight up and 4-7 against the spread at home this season.
Head-to-head, the home team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
Both of these teams have been pretty bad this season, and it’s really not a game I’m trying to bet. However, while Bucknell has fallen off from the constant representative of the Patriot League in the NCAA tournament from years past, the Crusaders are one of the worst teams in the country and are being outscored by 12.6 points per game at home this season. Bucknell has had issues on the road, but the Bison are only being outscored by 0.1 points per game in conference play while Holy Cross is being outscored by 10.2 points and allowing 78.4 points in conference play this season. I think laying the points with Bucknell, even on the road, is the lesser of two evils here, so I’ll lay the points with the Bison.
