UIC Flames +2 -- Over/Under: 143.5
The Wright State Raiders will travel to UIC Pavilion to take on the UIC Flames this Thursday night in College Basketball action.
The Wright State Raiders won their 4th straight game and improved to 12-10 (6-3 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Green Bay Phoenix, 87-75, this past Saturday. Wright State was solid on the offensive end against the Phoenix and was able to pull away for the victory after taking a 57-41 lead with 13:35 left in regulation. Wright State shot 54.5% from the field and outrebounded Green Bay by a 35-28 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Raiders was Billy Wampler who had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal in 27 minutes from off the bench.
On the season, Wright State is averaging 73.5 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Raiders are averaging 8.4 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wright State has been led by Loudon Love (15.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 bpg), Billy Wampler (14.7 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.4 apg), and Mark Hughes (9.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg).
Defensively, Wright State is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Raiders have a rebound margin of 3.1 and a turnover margin of 2.4.
The UIC Flames dropped to 10-12 (4-5 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 80-67, this past Saturday. UIC had a surprisingly difficult time generate offense against Oakland defense and couldn’t fight back after the Golden Grizzlies went into halftime with a 37-21 lead. UIC shot just 37.7% from the field and 11.1% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Flames was Marcus Ottey who had 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist.
On the season, UIC is averaging 75.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Flames are averaging 10.0 three-pointers per game on 35.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UIC has been led by Marcus Ottey (16.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.3 spg), Tarkus Ferguson (14.9 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Godwin Boahen (14.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.1 spg), and Jordan Blount (10.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensively, UIC is allowing their opponents to average 76.0 ppg on 42.4% shooting from the field. The Flames have a rebound margin of -3.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Raiders are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Friday games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win. The Flames are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a double-digit loss at home, however, just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games vs. Horizon League opponents.
Wright State has won 5 of their last 6 games and come into this game ranked 177th in scoring offense, 116th in scoring defense, and 100th in rebound margin. UIC has lost 3 of their last 4 games and currently rank 124th in scoring offense, 278th in scoring defense, & 299th in rebound margin.
UIC and their defense was able to steal a 75-72 win at Wright State earlier this season, however, this was game in which the Raiders didn’t have their best player, Loudon Love, at 100% due to an ankle injury. Wright State and their offense has been rolling as of late, putting up 80+ in 3 of their last 4 games and as I think they’ll find success against the Flames defense in this one, I’m taking Wright State to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
