MVC college basketball continues with Illinois State Redbirds hosting the Southern Illinois Salukis.

The Southern Illinois State Salukis have lost three lost three in a row after Saturday’s 65-61 defeat to visiting Valparaiso as an 8.5 point favorite.

Kavion Pippen tried to rally Southern Illinois from a seven point deficit at the half with a contest high 23 points and eight rebounds.

Armon Fletcher gave the Salukis 13 points and ten  rebounds  with Aaron Cook adding eight points, six helpers  and three yanks.

The Illinois State Redbirds were denied a third straight conference victory in a 67-64 loss at Loyola-Chicago as a nine point road dog.

Illinois State shot the ball well enough at 47.9%  but the Ramblers countered with 50% marksmanship which was the difference.

Milik Yarbrough kept Illinois State within striking distance with 19 points, ten rebounds and three assists with Keyshawn Evans adding 16 points and three helpers.

Josh Jefferson gave the Redbirds eight points in 22 minutes off of the bench followed by Phil Fayne with a seven point, five pull effort.
