Illinois State Redbirds -7 O/U: 132
The Valparaiso Crusaders and the Illinois State Redbirds will meet up on the college basketball circuit Tuesday.
Valparaiso enters this matchup with a 12-11 mark on the year. The Crusaders are currently sitting on a four-game losing streak, dropping to Indiana State, Drake, Missouri State and Evansville in that time.
In the loss to the Aces, Valparaiso’s lead scorers were Javon Freeman and Markus Golder, each with 12 points and a combined eight rebounds. Derrik Smits and Daniel Sackey added 10 points apiece for the Crusaders in that one.
Over on the Illinois State side, they’re 14-9 this season. The Redbirds have posted victories in their last three games, taking out Indiana State, Drake and Loyola IL during that stretch of outings.
In the win over the Ramblers, Illinois State’s top scorer was Milik Yarbrough, with 21 points, two rebounds and one assist. Adding 14 points for the Redbirds in that one was Keyshawn Evans, and Zach Copeland had 11 points.
The Crusaders are 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. the under is 4-0 in Valparaiso’s last four overall and 4-0 in their last four road games.
Meanwhile, the Redbirds are 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six home games. Illinois State is 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 versus the Missouri Valley and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games.
Valparaiso’s offense has been asleep during this losing streak, and they’ve failed to hit 60 points in any of their last four—not that the Crusaders are known for scoring much this year anyway, but still.
I don’t think the Redbirds will have a whole lot of trouble here, and the line doesn’t really seem too bad to me. I’m going to stick with Illinois State in this one.
