Illinois Fighting Illini -2.5 O/U: 146.5
The Penn State Nittany Lions and the Illinois Fighting Illini will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
Penn State is currently sitting at 10-16 on the season. The Nittany Lions are 2-2 in their last four games, falling to Ohio State and Purdue while beating Michigan and Nebraska in that stretch.
In the win over the Cornhuskers, Penn State’s lead scorer was Lamar Stevens on 29 points with eight rebounds. Also with a nice game for the Lions there was Rasir Bolton with 21 points and four assists on the night.
Over on the Illinois side, they’re 10-16 this year as well. Following a four-game win streak over Nebraska, Michigan State, Rutgers and Ohio State, Illinois lost in their last outing to Wisconsin.
In the loss to the Badgers, Illinois’ top scorer was Ayo Dosunmu with 13 points, three assists and two rebounds. Aaron Jordan added 12 points for the Illini in that one, and Giorgi Bezhanishvili put up 10 points and four boards.
Penn State is 4-0-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games overall. the Lions are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big Ten and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Illini are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big Ten. Illinois is 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 Saturday games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games.
Penn State’s had some mighty ups and downs lately, from a 75-69 win over the Wolverines to a 74-70 loss to an Ohio State team they probably should have beaten.
As for Illinois, they’ve had some close calls among their last several games, and on the whole they’re doing much better than they were earlier in the season when many people (myself included) wrote the team off for dead. I’m going to stick with the at-home Illini here.
