Illinois Fighting Illini -6 O/U: 142.5
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the Illinois Fighting Illini will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
Rutgers is currently sitting at 11-11 this year. Following three straight wins over Nebraska, Penn State and Indiana, the Knights have lost their last two versus Ohio State and Michigan.
In the loss to the Wolverines, Rutgers’ Eugene Omoruyi led the team on 21 points with four rebounds and two assists. Montez Mathis was the only other Scarlet Knight in double-figures there with 15 points and five assists.
Over on the Illinois side, they’re 8-15 this season. The Illini have won three of their last four games, rattling off victories over Maryland, Nebraska and Michigan State during that great run.
In the win over the Spartans, Illinois’ Ayo Dosunmu led the charge with 24 points, two rebounds and two assists. Giorgi Bezhanishvili added 16 points and five rebounds for the Illini during that shocking victory.
The Knights are 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games. The over is 5-2 in Rutgers’ last seven road games and 10-4 in the last 14 versus the Big Ten.
Meanwhile, the Illini are 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 Saturday games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 6-2 in the Illini’s last eight overall and 4-0 in their last four after an ATS win.
Rutgers hasn’t exactly been pouring in the points lately—they haven’t hit 70 points in any of their last four outings, but that’s kind of how they’re built.
Illinois has had some better fortune lately, and I have to admit they’re back from the dead after I wrote the team off earlier this year. I’m going to stick with this plucky Illini team and take them on a home cover here.
