The Line: Illinois Fighting Illini -7 -- Over/Under: 152.5
The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels and the Illinois Fighting Illini will match up on the college basketball court Saturday.
UNLV enters this one at 4-3 on the year. The Rebels have taken out UC Riverside, Oakland, Pacific and Southern Utah but fallen to LMU, Valparaiso and Cincinnati this year.
In the Cincinnati game, UNLV’s Amauri Hardy put up 22 points with four rebounds to lead the team, and Kris Clyburn almost doubled up with 12 points and nine rebounds. Bryce Hamilton was the only other Rebel in double-figures with 10 points.
Over on the Illinois side, they’re just 2-7 this year. The Illini’s wins came versus Evansville and MS Valley, and they’ve lost to Georgetown, Gonzaga, Iowa State, Xavier, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Ohio State.
In the Buckeyes game, Illinois’ Kipper Nichols and Trent Frazier each tallied 18 points and five rebounds, with four assists between them as the only players on the team in double-figures.
The Rebels are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four versus the Big Ten and 9-19-2 ATS in their last 30 overall. UNLV is 5-22-5 ATS in their last 32 road games and 8-17-1 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Illini are 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall. Illinois is 0-5 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.
UNLV was on a pretty solid run with their four-game win streak but they haven’t been able to do much scoreboard-wise over their last two, posting a relatively paltry 125 points combined in both.
As for Illinois, they’ve had a couple of good outings this season but aren’t going to make anyone nervous as the schedule rolls on. I’m going with UNLV on the cover here in a bounce-back versus a not-so-good Illini squad.
