Loyola-Chicago Ramblers -4 -- Over/Under: 129
The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers and the Indiana State Sycamores meet in MVC conference college basketball action from the Hulman Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers come into this game looking to build on back-to-back wins and wins in 6 of their last 8 games following a 71-54 win over Valparaiso in their last outing. Aher Uguak, Cameron Krutwig and Cooper Kaifes tied for the team-high with 12 points, with Uguak adding 3 assists while Krutwig shot 5 of 10 with 5 rebounds and Kaifes had 4 threes. Clayton Custer, Marques Townes and Lucas Williamson each had 11 points to round out the scoring for the Ramblers in the win, with Custer shooting 4 of 8 from the floor with 3 assists while Williamson added a team-high 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals as well in the win. Townes leads Loyola-Chicago with an average of 14.1 points and 3.7 assists per game while Krutwig leads the Ramblers in rebounding with 7.3 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Loyola-Chicago is averaging 68.4 points per game on 49.8% shooting from the field, 35.2% from behind the 3-point line and 65.3% from the foul line this season. The Ramblers are also tough defensively, allowing the 9th-fewest points per game this season, giving up just 60.7 points per game this season.
The Indiana State Sycamores will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games and splitting their last 12 games following a 69-64 loss to Northern Iowa last time out. Jordan Barnes led the Sycamores with 15 points along with 11 rebounds for the double-double while Cooper Neese added 13 points with 3 threes as the only other Sycamore to score in double figures as well in the losing effort. Barnes leads Indiana State with an average of 17.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Indiana State is averaging 69.9 points per game on 44.1% shooting from the field, 37.8% from 3-point range and 69.6% from the foul line this season.
Loyola-Chicago is 17-6 ATS in their last 23 conference games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Indiana State is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Loyola-Chicago is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
I think it’s definitely telling that the Ramblers are favored on the road here, as Loyola-Chicago is starting to regain that respect as the team to beat in the Missouri Valley conference. Indiana State has some major consistency issues, and I’m not sure Loyola is the team to try to fix those issues against. The Ramblers are well-coached and have had a lot of success against the rest of the MVC, which includes covering in 5 of the last 6 meetings with Indiana State. The Ramblers are simply the better team here, so I’ll lay the bucket on the road with Loyola-Chicago here.
