Indiana State Sycamores -6.5 -- Over/Under: 148.5
The Missouri State Bears and the Indiana State Sycamores meet in MVC conference college basketball action from the Hulman Center on Tuesday night.
The Missouri State Bears come into this game looking to improve on back-to-back losses after an 82-66 loss to Valparaiso in their last outing. Jarred Dixon led the Bears with 23 points while Kabir Mohammed added 13 points and a team-high 8 rebounds as the only other Missouri State player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Ryan Kreklow matched his 4 points with a team-high 4 assists as well in the loss. Dixon leads the Bears in scoring with 14.5 points per game while Mohammed leads Missouri State on the glass with 4.3 rebounds per game while Josh Webster is the Bears’ top assist man with 5.7 assists per game this season. As a team, Missouri State is averaging 76.5 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 33.5% from behind the arc and 71.3% from the foul line this season.
The Indiana State Sycamores will look to pick up some momentum after a 65-60 win over Bradley in their last outing. Christian Williams led the Sycamores with 18 points with 11 rebounds and an 11 of 14 mark from the foul line for the double-double while Jordan Barnes added 16 points with 8 rebounds and a 9 of 12 mark from the foul line as the lone pair of Indiana State players to score in double-digits in the win. Barnes leads Indiana State with an average of 18.8 points, 3.7 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Indiana State is averaging 71.1 points per game on 45% shooting from the field, 40.4% from behind the 3-point line and 68.7% from the charity stripe this season.
Missouri State is 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. Indiana State is 3-11 ATS in their last 14 Tuesday games and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 conference games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games. The road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
The road team has had a lot of success and 5 of the last 7 meetings have been decided by 6 points or less, so there’s reason to consider the points with Missouri State here. However, the Bears haven’t been very good on the road dating back to last season and even though the last couple have been closer, the fact is that the Bears aren’t covering games which is all we care about in this line of work. Indiana State hasn’t been much better, but they’ve had success at home so I’ll lay the points with the Sycamores in this one.
