MVC college basketball on Saturday pits the Southern Illinois Salukis at the Indiana State Sycamores.

The Southern Illinois Salukis missed out on a chance to move up the MVC standings with a 72-68 loss at Drake on Tuesday as a 5.5 point home favorite.

Southern Illinois generally plays things slow and deliberate which is their best chance of success but Drake nursed an early lead and made their free throws while SIU was 8-14 at the line.

Armon Fletcher kept the Salukis competitive with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists with Kavion Pippen adding 19 points and six boards.

Eric McGill gave Southern Illinois eight points, five pulls and four helpers followed by Aaron Cook and Sean Lloyd with eight points apiece.

The Indiana State Sycamores come off of an 87-82 overtime win at Valparaiso on Wednesday night as a 4.5 point underdog.

Indiana State is near the bottom of the Missouri Valley standings and much of their struggles have been inconsistent play at both ends of the floor.

Tyreke Key led the Sycamores upset with 32 points and three yanks with Cooper Neese tossing in 13 points and posting four pulls.

Indiana State saw 12 points and three yanks from Bronson Kessinger followed by Jordan Barnes with another eleven points.

Southern Illinois Salukis are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and Southern Illinois Salukis are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 vs. Missouri Valley. 

Indiana State Sycamores are 7-17 ATS in their last 24 vs. Missouri Valley and Indiana State Sycamores are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.
