Iona Gaels -8 O/U: 164.5
The Niagara Purple Eagles and the Iona Gaels will meet up on the college basketball court Sunday.
Niagara enters this matchup with an 11-13 record overall. Following consecutive wins over Monmouth and Canisius, the Eagles have lost their last two versus Quinnipiac and Marist.
In the loss to Marist, Niagara’s lead scorer was Raheem Solomon with 16 points and four rebounds. Marvin Prochet and James Towns came up with 11 points apiece for the Eagles in that one, with a combined four assists and six rebounds.
Over on the Iona side, they’re 7-15 this season. The Gaels have dropped their last four straight games, falling to Fairfield, Marist, Siena and Quinnipiac during that stretch of outings.
In the loss to the Bobcats, Iona’s EJ Crawford led the team on 22 points, five rebounds and two assists. Tajuan Agee doubled up for the Gaels in that one with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Rickey McGill chipped in 12 points.
The Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The under is 4-0 in Niagara’s last four road games and the over is 5-1 in their last six Sunday games.
Meanwhile, the Gaels are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 overall and 3-11 ATS in their last 14 after a straight-up loss. Iona is 1-6 ATS in their last seven Sunday games and 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the MAA.
Niagara looked pretty solid late last month, bagging a 3-1 mark over a four-game stretch and losing by just two to Saint Peter’s in the defeat. Since then, the Eagles have lost by 11 to Quinnipiac and 21 to Marist.
As for Iona, they haven’t fallen by more than four points in any of their last three, so they’re at least being competitive. I’m going to go with the Gaels to wake up and cover at home here.
