Iowa State Cyclones -6.5
The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones will meet up on the college basketball court Friday in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Ohio State sits at 19-14 on the season overall. The Buckeyes managed to take out Indiana 79-75 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament, but fell to Michigan State 77-70 last Friday.
In the loss to the Spartans, Ohio State’s Keyshawn Woods topped the team on 16 points with one rebound and one assist. The only other Buckeyes player in double-figures there was Andre Wesson on 14 points, three rebounds and three assists.
Over on the Iowa State side, they’re 23-11 this year. The Cyclones “blew” their way through the Big 12 Tournament, bagging convincing victories over Baylor, Kansas State and Kansas on the way to the title.
In the win over Kansas, Iowa State’s top scorer was Lindell Wigginton with 17 points, six rebounds and two assists. Marial Shayok added 15 points with four rebounds and three assists for the Cyclones there also.
The Buckeyes are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Friday games and 9-23 ATS in their last 32 neutral-site games. Ohio State is 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 1-7 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Cyclones are 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine non-conference games. Iowa State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six versus the Big Ten.
Ohio State is a tough team to nail down; they’re a good all-around squad but really need their leaders to step up and take control in some of these tougher games.
This will be a stout task for the inconsistent Buckeyes; Iowa State is a trendy pick to do some major damage in this tournament. The line here is bound to inflate as everyone jumps on the bandwagon, so it might be prudent to wait a little while if you’re thinking the Buckeyes can sneak in. At six or above, I like Ohio State to keep pace here, as long as they’re on point.
