The Illinois Fighting Illini and the Iowa Hawkeyes will match up in college basketball’s Big Ten Tournament on Thursday.

Illinois enters this one at 12-20 overall. The Illini dropped consecutive games to finish the regular season, but were able to take out Northwestern in the first round of the tournament Wednesday 74-69.

In the win over Northwestern, Illinois’ Giorgi Vezhanishvili led the team with 26 points and four rebounds. Trent Frazier added 21 points and four rebounds for the Illini there and Andres Feliz doubled up with 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Iowa enters this one with a 21-10 mark overall. The Hawkeyes have lost their last four straight games, dropping to Ohio State, Rutgers, Wisconsin and Nebraska in that span of outings.

In the loss to the Cornhuskers, Iowa’s top scorer was Luka Garza on 25 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Bohannon helped out the Hawkeyes there with 20 points and five assists, and Joe Wieskamp added 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Illini are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 Thursday games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 after an ATS win. The over is 4-0 in the Illini’s last four neutral-site games and 7-1 in their last eight after an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes are 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss and 8-0 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games. Iowa is 0-8 ATS in their last eight versus the Big Ten and 0-7 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss.

The Hawkeyes are on a pretty ugly skid right now, and they were blown out by at least 14 points in the first three games of their four-game losing streak (the other was a 93-91 loss to Nebraska).

As for Illinois, they’ve shown some late-season guts and pulled off a handful of wins they probably shouldn't have. I’m going with the plucky Illini here.
