The South Dakota Coyotes battle the IUPU-Ft. Wayne Mastodons in Summit League college basketball.
The South Dakota Coyotes can put up solid numbers at both ends of the floor but struggled defensively last time out in an 84-79 loss to the North Dakota State Bison as an eight point home favorite on Saturday. North Dakota State owned a 52.8%-43.3% shooting edge to negate seven more Coyotes looks.
Matt Mooney gave South Dakota 23 points, three yanks and four steals on 8-20 from the floor and a 5-13 effort on long balls. The Coyotes saw Trey Burch-Manning and Tyler Peterson each score 15 points with Burch-Manning snagging eight rebounds while Triston Simpson and Tyler Hagedorn combined for 17 points.
The IUPU-Ft. Wayne Mastodons haven’t been stamped as a challenger but this team is dangerous because of a top 40 offense. IUPU-Ft. Wayne won their first conference game by an 82-63 count versus the Denver Pioneers on Saturday as a three point road favorite. The Mastodons led by ten at the break and never looked back behind 49.1% shooting and ten more shots.
Bryson Scott paced the Fort Wayne offense with a contest high 20 points with four yanks and four assists on 6-17 from the floor and a 7-7 mark at the line followed by Kason Harrell with 18 points on 7-12 shooting. Dylan Carl gave the Mastodons 12 points on 5-7 from the field while John Konchar added eleven points and eight rebounds.
South Dakota are 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 road games and over is 11-3 in South Dakota last 14 road games and over is 10-3 in South Dakota last 13 vs. Summit. Over is 7-2 in Fort Wayne last 9 Thursday games and over is 37-15-1 in Fort Wayne last 53 home games and Fort Wayne are 38-17-3 ATS in their last 58 home games. Underdog is 11-3 ATS in the last 14 meetings and under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.
Both teams are capable of making noise in the Summit but I hope the Coyotes make all the noise here…
