The Wright State Raiders will travel to Indiana Farmers Coliseum to take on the IUPUI Jaguars this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The Wright State Raiders had their 4-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 12-11 (6-4 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the UIC Flames, 67-53, this past Friday. Wright State had no answers on the offensive end against the UIC defense and couldn’t fight back after UIC took a 54-44 lead with 5:54 left in regulation. Wright State shot just 28.1% from the field and 15.8% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Raiders was Loudon Love who had a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block.
On the season, Wright State is averaging 72.6 ppg on 42.6% shooting from the field. The Raiders are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 34.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Wright State has been led by Loudon Love (14.9 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 bpg), Billy Wampler (14.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 1.3 apg), Cole Gentry (13.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.3 spg), and Mark Hughes (9.6 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, Wright State is allowing their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Raiders have a rebound margin of 3.3 and a turnover margin of 2.3.
The IUPUI Jaguars won their 3rd consecutive game and improved to 14-9 (6-4 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Northern Kentucky Norse, 83-77, this past Friday night. IUPUI was outstanding offensively against the tough Northern Kentucky defense and was able to hold on late after taking a 75-66 lead with 4:10 left in regulation. IUPUI shot 51.8% from the field and 42.1% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Jaguars was Camron Justice who had 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
On the season, IUPUI is averaging 77.2 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Jaguars are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 34.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, IUPUI has been led by Camron Justice (19.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.2 spg), Jaylen Minnett (11.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.7 apg), Evan Hall (9.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.2 bpg), and D.J. McCall (7.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg).
Defensively, IUPUI is allowing their opponents to average 72.7 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of 4.5 and a turnover margin of 0.4.
The Raiders are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss. The Jaguars are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 Sunday games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games.
Wright State has won 5 of their last 7 games and has been decent on both ends of the floor this season as the Raiders rank T-198th in scoring offense, 113th in scoring defense, and 96th in rebound margin. IUPUI has won 4 of their last 5 games and although their defense can give up some points as the Jaguars rank just 215th in scoring defense, IUPUI has been solid offensively as they rank 79th in scoring offense & 122nd in FG%.
Wright State is a solid team, however, the Raiders have struggled on the road this season as they are just 3-6 in away games and 0-3 in game on a neutral court. IUPUI lost by a 72-64 margin earlier this season at Wright State, however, IUPUI just pulled off an impressive victory at home agianst Northern Kentucky and as I think their offense will find success in this game, I’m taking IUPUI to cover this small home spread.
