Jacksonville State Gamecocks -14.5 O/U: 141.5
The SIU Edwardsville Cougars and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks will match up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.
SIUE enters this game on a 5-10 mark thus far. After a three-game win streak versus Northern Colorado, Missouri S&T and SEMO, the Cougars have lost their last pair versus Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech.
In the loss to the Golden Eagles, SIU Edwardsville’s David McFarland led the way on 17 points, five rebounds and two assists. Daniel Kinchen added 14 points for the Cougars and Cameron Williams chipped in 13 points.
Over on the Jacksonville State side, they’re 11-5 this year. The Gamecocks have won their last four games, beating Reinhardt, Belmont, Tennessee State and Eastern Illinois in succession.
In the win over the Panthers, Jacksonville State forward Jason Burnell led the way on 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Marlon Hunter added 15 points and five boards for the Gamecocks and Derrick Mostella scored 12 points.
The Cougars are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 versus the Ohio Valley and 2-5 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss. SIUE is 1-4 ATS in their last five following a straight-up loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 overall. Jacksonville State is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the OVC and the under is 7-2 in their last nine overall.
SIUE had a great chance at winning their last game, but they came out completely flat in overtime and could only muster two additional points. That said, the Cougars have been competitive in every one of their last several games.
I like Jacksonville State to win this one, but I don’t necessarily think they’ll be able to push SIUE around. I’m going to stick with the Cougars on the cover.
