Jacksonville State Gamecocks -11
The Tennessee-Martin Skyhawks and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks will match up in college basketball action on Thursday in the Ohio Valley Tournament.
Tennessee-Martin enters this one at 12-18 overall on the year. After stopping a three-game skid with a win over Tennessee State, the Skyhawks won their opening-round conference tourney game against Eastern Illinois.
In the win over the Panthers on Wednesday, Jailen Gill led the way for the Skyhawks on 17 points and 10 rebounds. Craig Randall added 14 points with six boards and Derek Hawthorne put up 17 points with six rebounds.
Over on the Jacksonville State side, they’re currently 23-8 this season. The Gamecocks are riding a seven-game win streak right now, beating SEMO, TN Tech, TN State, Morehead State, Eastern KY, Eastern IL and SIUE in that span.
In the win over the Cougars, Jacksonville State’s lead scorer was Jason Burnell, doubling up on 30 points and 13 rebounds. Christian Cunningham posted a double-double as well for the Gamecocks in that one with his 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Skyhawks are 6-0 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win and 10-2 ATS in the last 12 overall. Tennessee-Martin is 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 8-1 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 neutral-site games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall. Jacksonville State is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four Thursday games and the under is 9-4 in their last 13 neutral-site games.
During their win streak, Jacksonville State has had a few close calls, notably a one-point win over Morehead State, a three-point win over Eastern Kentucky and a five-point win over Eastern Illinois. That said, the Gamecocks are scoring very well lately, with at least 89 points in each of their last three games.
With Jacksonville State on a pretty good run right now and coming into this one sufficiently rested, I’m leaning toward the Gamecocks banging out a cover here.
