The Auburn Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks will meet up on Saturday for the Second Round of college basketball’s NCAA Tournament.

After a loss to Iowa State 78-66 in the Big 12 Tournament, Kansas got their feet back on the ground in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament Thursday, taking out Northeastern 87-53.

In the win over the Huskies, Kansas’ Dedric Lawson put up 25 points with 11 rebounds to lead the team, and Devon Dotson helped out with 18 points, four rebounds and two assists. KJ Lawson and Ochai Agbaji each put up 13 points for the Jayhawks there as well.

Over on the Auburn side, they’re sitting at 27-9 and survived a really weird First Round game against New Mexico State, narrowly avoiding the upset with a 78-77 win that will leave Aggies fans groaning for months to come.

In the win over New Mexico State, Auburn’s Jared Harper led the team on 17 points with four assists and one rebound. Chuma Okeke added 13 points and five boards for the Tigers, while Bryce Brown had 12 points with five assists.

The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the Big 12 and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. Auburn is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven non-conference games.

Meanwhile, the Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games. Kansas is 5-11 ATS in their last 16 after a straight-up win and the over is 4-0 in their last four Saturday games.

Auburn was in control for most of the game on Thursday, until a wild final minute threw the entire thing into question. This should serve as a sobering wake-up call for the Tigers, whose journey won’t get any easier from here on out.

As for Kansas, they had the misfortune of running into a hot Iowa State team, but it seems like they’ve got their bearings again after that big victory Thursday. I’m leaning toward the Jayhawks to keep chugging along here.
