The Line: Kansas Jayhawks -10 -- Over/Under: 149.5
The Oklahoma Sooners and the Kansas Jayhawks meet in Big 12 conference college basketball action from Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Oklahoma Sooners will look to add to their current 7-game winning streak after a 76-69 overtime win over Northwestern in their last outing. Kristian Doolittle led the Sooners with 14 points on 7 of 12 shooting along with 9 rebounds while Rashard Odomes came right behind with 13 points on 6 of 11 shooting in 18 minutes on the floor. Christian James added 12 points and 9 rebounds while Miles Reynolds added 11 points to round out the scoring in double figures for the Sooners in the win. Aaron Calixte chipped in 9 points and a team-high 6 assists as well in the win. James leads the Sooners in scoring with 17.9 points per game while Calixte leads the Sooners in assists with 3.3 assists per game and Brady Manek leads Oklahoma on the glass with 7.5 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Oklahoma is averaging 76.6 points per game on 46.1% shooting from the field, 36.9% from behind the arc and 66.9% from the foul line this season.
The Kansas Jayhawks will look to build up some momentum after bouncing back from their first loss of the season with an 87-63 win over Eastern Michigan in their last outing. Udoka Azubuike led the Jayhawks with 23 points on 10 of 13 shooting with a team-high 9 rebounds and a pair of blocks while Quentin Grimes added 16 points and Devon Dotson chipped in 15 points with 4 assists and 3 steals to round out the scoring in double figures for Kansas in the win. Dedric Lawson was held to 8 points while dishing out a team-high 5 assists in the victory, but still leads Kansas by averaging a double-double per game with 19.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game while Dotson leads the Jayhawks in assists with 3.1 assists per game this season. As a team, Kansas is averaging 81.7 points per game on 48.7% shooting from the field, 35.7% from behind the arc and 68.8% from the foul line this season.
Oklahoma is 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. Kansas is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against a team with a winning road record and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against the Big 12 while the over is 18-6-2 in their last 26 games overall. The underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Kansas took out some frustration on Eastern Michigan after their first loss of the season, but the fact is that Kansas has played some close games against above average competition this season. The Jayhawks’ games against Michigan State, Marquette, Tennessee, Stanford, Villanova and Arizona State have all been decided by single digits. I think Oklahoma has enough to keep this game close, so I’ll take the Sooners and the points here.
