The Wofford Terriers and the Kansas Jayhawks meet in college basketball action from Allen Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
The Wofford Terriers will be looking for a huge road win to add to their current 4-game winning streak after a 79-62 win over East Tennessee State in their last outing. Fletcher Magee led the Terriers with 24 points on 7 of 16 shooting with 5 threes while Cameron Jackson added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Matthew Pegram chipped in 10 points to finish off the trio of double-digit scorers for Wofford in the win, while Keve Aluma added 8 points and a team-high 10 rebounds as well in the winning effort. Magee leads Wofford in scoring with 17.9 points per game while Jackson leads the Terriers on the glass with 8 rebounds per game and Storm Murphy leads Wofford with 3.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Wofford is averaging 81.1 points per game on 47.5% shooting from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and 69.3% from the foul line this season.
The Kansas Jayhawks will look for another win to remain unbeaten after improving to 6-0 with a 90-84 overtime win over Stanford in their last outing. Lagerald Vick led the Jayhawks with 27 points on 10 of 17 shooting with 7 threes while Dedric Lawson came right behind with 24 points on 7 of 16 shooting with a 10 of 11 mark from the foul line and a whopping 15 rebounds for the double-double. Udoka Azubuike added 18 points on 9 of 11 shooting with 9 rebounds while Devon Dotson added 10 points and a team-high 4 assists to round out the quartet of double-digit scorers for KU in the win. Vick leads Kansas in scoring with an average of 20.8 points per game while Lawson leads the Jayhawks in rebounding and assists by averaging a double-double per game with 18.8 points to go along with team-high averages of 11.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. As a team, Kansas is averaging 86.5 points per game on 49.1% shooting from the field, 43.9% from behind the arc and 64.9% from the foul line this season.
Wofford is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 10-2 in their last 12 games following a win. Kansas is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games against the SoCon and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 non-conference games.
There’s no denying that Kansas is the better team here and is deserving of being one of the top teams in the country. However, the Jayhawks have yet to cover a spread at home, including scarping by Stanford in their last outing by 6 as a 20-point favourite. In fact, four of Kansas’ six games this season have been decided by single digits and with this line being at 16.5 at the time of posting, Kansas hasn’t won a game by more than 16 points this season. Wofford has shown that they’re not afraid of going on the road and playing the big boys as the Terriers have already taken down South Carolina handily earlier this season. I just think Wofford will bring out some magic here, so I’ll take the Terriers and the points here.
