The Line: Kentucky Wildcats -5 -- Over/Under: 138.5
Out at Philips Arena in NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 action on Thursday, the Kansas State Wildcats and the Kentucky Wildcats will be matching up on the college basketball court.
Kansas State is currently sitting at 24-11 on the season. The Wildcats entered the NCAA Tournament after losing three of their final four games, but took care of Creighton in the First Round back on Friday.
In Sunday’s Second-Round game versus a UMBC team no one saw coming, Kansas State’s top scorer was Barry Brown with 18 points. Makol Mawien was the only other Wildcat in double-figures in the 50-43 win, bagging 11 points.
Over on the Kentucky side, they’re sitting at 26-10 this year. The Wildcats stormed through the conference tournament, then took out a pesky Davidson team 78-73 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
In Saturday’s Round Two game, Kentucky beat Buffalo 95-75. The Wildcats’ leading scorer in that one was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 27 points, while Hamidou Diallo helped out on 22 points.
Kansas State is 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 2-5 ATS in their last seven NCAA Tournament games. The Wildcats are also 2-6 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five versus the SEC.
Meanwhile, Kentucky is 3-0-2 ATS in their last five NCAA Tournament games and 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games. The Wildcats are also 5-0 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games.
Kansas State dodged a bullet not having to face Virginia in the second round, and they took full advantage by keeping the Retrievers at bay. As for Kentucky, they wobbled a little bit versus Davidson but were the convincing victors on the Buffalo game. Kentucky is playing well right now, and they’ve only lost one of their last 10 games. I’m going to go with Kentucky to keep it going here.
