Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the Kentucky Wildcats meet in a college basketball matchup from Rupp Arena on Wednesday night.

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks will look to build on their 2-0 start to the year with a massive road win following a 63-60 nailbiter against Milwaukee in their last outing. Conner Avants led North Dakota with 14 points on 6 of 9 shooting with 7 rebounds while Cortez Seales added 12 points and a team-high 3 assists. Kienan Walker added 10 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks to round out the trio of double digit scorers for North Dakota in the win while Filip Rebraca added 4 points and a team-high 8 rebounds in the victory. Seales leads the Fighting Hawks with 14 points per game while Avants leads North Dakota with 8 rebounds per game and Davids Atelbauers leads the Fighting Hawks in assists with 3 helpers per game this season. As a team, North Dakota is averaging 83.5 points per game on 48% shooting from the field, 40.4% from behind the arc and 78.9% from the foul line through their first two games of the season.

The Kentucky Wildcats will look to build some steam after picking up their first win of the season in a 71-59 win over Southern Illinois in their last outing. Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley each had 15 points, with Johnson shooting 5 of 10 while Quickley added a pair of threes and a pair of seatles. Quade Green added 14 points and EJ Montgomery added 10 points with 7 rebounds and a pair of blocks to round out the scoring in double figures for Kentucky in the win. Nick Richards added 8 points with a whopping 19 rebounds (more than Southern Illinois as a team) with 3 blocks as well in the victory. Johnson leads the Wildcats with 19 points per game while Richards leads Kentucky on the glass with 10.5 rebounds per game and Ashton Hagans leads the Wildcats in assists with 3.5 assists per game this season. As a team, Kentucky is averaging 77.5 points per game on 44.2% shooting from the field, 25.8% from behind the 3-point line and 72.3% from the foul line through their first two games of the season.

North Dakota is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 road games. Kentucky is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home games while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games following a win.

North Dakota’s start to the year is off to a good one, and Kentucky was able to rebound from their brutal opener against Duke with a win against Southern Illinois. The problem for me with Kentucky is that the Wildcats still struggled to get by the Salukis, and didn’t really break away from Southern Illinois until late on in the game. I’m not sure North Dakota has the same fight here, but going off of what I’ve seen so far, I think the Fighting Hawks have a chance to keep this one within reason so I’ll take North Dakota and the points here.

Pick:
North Dakota +26
