The Rhode Island Rams and the La Salle Explorers meet in A-10 conference college basketball action from the Tom Gola Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Rhode Island Rams will look to find some consistent play after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 9 games following a 75-63 win over St. Bonaventure in their last outing. Fatts Russell and Tyrese Martin led the Rams with 18 points apiece, with Russell shooting 6 of 9 with a team-high 5 assists and 4 steals while Martin shot 5 of 6 with a perfect 7 of 7 mark from the foul line. Cyril Langevine added 14 points with a team-high 8 rebounds and a pair of blocks while Jeff Dowtin added 12 points with 4 assists as well in the winning effort. Dowtin leads the Rams with an average of 16.4 points and 4.2 assists per game while Langevine leads Rhode Island in rebounding with 9.9 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Rhode Island is averaging 70.7 points per game on 42.1% shooting from the field, 26.5% from behind the arc and 68.2% from the foul line this season.

The La Salle Explorers will look to snap a 3-game losing streak after falling to George Washington by a final score of 59-56 last time out. Isiah Deas led the Explorers with 11 points on 3 of 12 shooting as the only La Salle player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Traci Carter added 9 points with 3 steals while Saul Phiri added a team-high 4 assists and Jared Kimbrough contributed 8 points and a team-high 9 rebounds as well in the loss. Deas leads La Salle in scoring with 11.7 points per game while Carter leads the Explorers in assists with 3.4 assists per game and Ed Croswell leads La Salle on the glass with 5.1 rebounds per game this season. As a team, La Salle is averaging 68.8 points per game on 39.8% shooting from the field, 30.7% from 3-point range and 78.4% from the foul line this season, the 5th-best free throw percentage in the country this season.

Rhode Island is 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. La Salle is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and 10-23-1 ATS in their last 34 games overall while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall. Rhode Island is 8-1-1 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these two teams at La Salle.

Rhode Island isn’t necessarily a team I’m looking to lay points with on the road, especially given their issues with consistent play and recent patterns would suggest the Rams are in for a loss here. However, the Explorers are simply one of the worst teams in the A-10 and are winless at home this season. Rhode Island has flat out dominated the Explorers on their own floor over the last decade and I don’t expect that to start to change here so I’ll lay the points with the Rams in this one.

Rhode Island -5
