The Saint Joseph’s Hawks will travel to Tom Gola Arena to take on the La Salle Explorers this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 10-12 (3-6 A-10) on the season after defeating the UMass Minutemen, 64-62, this past Saturday. Saint Joseph’s struggled offensively agianst the UMass defense, however, was still able to secure the victory after a 6-0 Hawks run gave Saint Joseph’s a 60-54 lead with 1:40 left in regulation. Saint Joseph’s shot just 33.9% from the field & 17.4% from beyond the arc, however, did win the turnover battle by a 18-10 margin. Leading the way for the Hawks was Charlie Brown Jr. who had 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

On the season, Saint Joseph’s is averaging 69.5 ppg on 40.6% shooting from the field. The Hawks are averaging 8.1 three-pointers per game on 31.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Joseph’s has been led by Charlie Brown Jr. (20.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 spg), Lamarr Kimble (16.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.1 spg), Jared Bynum (11.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.3 spg), and Taylor Funk (9.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Saint Joseph’s is allowing their opponents to average 72.1 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Hawks have a rebound margin of -1.1 and a turnover margin of 1.0.

The La Salle Explorers won their 3rd straight game and improved to 6-14 (4-4 A-10) on the season after defeating the Richmond Spiders, 66-58, this past Saturday. La Salle trailed by a 41-32 margin early in the 2nd half, however, was outstanding defensively down the stretch and was able to hold off the Spiders after taking a 63-58 lead with just :29 seconds left in regulation. La Salle shot 43.6% from the field and outrebounded Richmond by a 41-30 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Explorers was Pookie Powell who had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

On the season, La Salle is averaging 68.3 ppg on 40.0% shooting from the field. The Explorers are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 32.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, La Salle has been led by Pookie Powell (15.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.6 spg), Isiah Deas (12.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.7 apg), Saul Phiri (11.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.2 apg), and Jack Clark (10.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.1 apg).

Defensively, La Salle is allowing their opponents to average 73.3 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Explorers have a rebound margin of -3.5 and a turnover margin of 0.6.

The Hawks are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 road games vs. a team with a losing road record, however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Explorers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Saint Joseph’s has lost 7 of their last 10 games and have really struggled offensively this season as the Hawks currently rank just 272nd in scoring offense, 329th in FG%, and 300th in 3P-FG%.

La Salle has won 6 of their last 10 games, however, it’s been a overall struggle for the Explorers on both ends of the court this season as they currently rank just 291st in scoring offense and 228th in scoring defense.

Saint Joseph’s has really struggled as of late and as they are currently without Lamarr Kimble due to a hand injury, it’s going to be difficult for the Hawks to pick up many wins as they just don’t have much scoring punch outside of Charlie Brown. La Salle is playing much better than the team we saw earlier this season as they are mostly healthy and as the Explorers have won their last two home games agianst Saint Joseph’s, I’m taking La Salle to make that three straight and cover this small home spread. Good Luck!

Pick:
La Salle Explorers -2
