The Patriot college basketball tournament gets underway with a first round matchup between the Holy Cross Crusaders and the Lafayette Leopards.

The Holy Cross Crusaders ended the season with an 86-66 defeat to the American University Eagles as a 2.5 point home favorite.

The balanced Holy Cross offense saw 19 points, five pulls and five assists with Caleb Green netting 15 points and logging three pulls.

The Crusaders received 14 points and three helpers from Jacob Grandison followed by Austin Butler with ten points and four assists.

The Lafayette Leopards suffered a 76-70 loss at the hands of the visiting Colgate Raiders to close the regular season on Saturday.

Justin Jaworski carried the Lafayette attack with 21 points and three yanks with Paulius Zalys contributing another 16 points and two pulls.

The Leopards received 16 points and two assists from Alex Petrie while  EJ  Stephens added  ten  points and  nine  rebounds.
