CIT college basketball action pits the Texas Southern Panthers against the UL Monroe Warhawks on Thursday.
The Texas Southern Tigers rallied from a five point deficit at the half to upend Texas Rio Grande 94-84 to reach the CIT quarterfinals.
Jeremy Combs led the Tigers big offense with contest highs of 27 points and 17 rebounds with Tyrik Armstrong adding 16 points, seven helpers and four steals.
John Jones gave Texas Southern 12 points while Devocio Butler and Jalyn Patterson combined for 21 points with Butler grabbing six boards.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks downed the Kent State Golden Flashes 87-77 as a three point underdog to punch their ticket to the CIT quarterfinals.
Travis Munnings topped the Warhawks with a game 28 points, nine rebounds and four assists with JD Williams tossing in 17 points with three yanks and three helpers.
UL Monroe saw 16 points, four pulls and four helpers from Daishon Smith followed by Michael Ertel with 14 points, three yanks and four assists.
