Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns PK O/U: 162
The Georgia State Panthers and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns will meet up on the college basketball circuit Friday.
The Panthers enter this one at 16-7 on the year. Following consecutive wins over TX-Arlington and Georgia Southern, the Panthers stumbled and lost in their last one versus Louisiana-Monroe.
In the loss to the Warhawks, Georgia State was led by D’Marcus Simonds’ 18 points, six assists and four rebounds. Devin Mitchell added 15 points for the Panthers in that one, and Malik Benlevi had 11 points with a team-high six boards.
Over on the Louisiana side, they’re 13-10 this season. The Ragin’ Cajuns have dropped their last three games, falling to Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern in that time.
In the loss to the Eagles, Louisiana forward Jakeenan Gant led the team on 23 points, five rebounds and one assist. Marcus Stroman added 16 points with eight rebounds and Cedric Russell chipped in 13 points for the Cajuns in that one.
The Panthers are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Georgia State is 1-6 ATS in the last seven overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus the Sun Belt.
Meanwhile, the Cajuns are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six home games and 0-3-1 ATS after an ATS loss. Louisiana is 0-5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 0-5-1 ATS in their last six versus the Sun Belt.
Let’s start by looking at the last time these teams faced off, which was an 89-76 Panthers home win back on January 10. Since then Georgia State has been mostly solid and competitive overall, but with a couple of stumbles and final scores that were too close for comfort.
The Cajuns have been dropping huge points totals in their recent games, but also surrendering HUGE points totals on the other side. Louisiana has coughed up at least 96 in each of their last three.
Georgia State’s offense is good enough to take advantage of that, so I’m going to stick with the Panthers in this coin-flip matchup. Should be a high-flying and fun-to-watch affair, but it’s also worth noting that both teams are ice cold ATS right now.
