KFC Yum! Center
Louisville Cardinals -4.5 -- Over/Under: 155.5
The NC State Wolfpack and the Louisville Cardinals square off in an ACC college basketball matchup from the KFC Yum! Center on Thursday night.
The NC State Wolfpack will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 5 games following a 77-73 win over Notre Dame in their last outing. C.J. Bryce led the Pack with 23 points on 9 of 14 shooting, hitting all 5 of his attempts from 3-point range along with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a pair of steals. Devon Daniels added 15 points along with 6 boards and 3 blocks while Torin Dorn added 13 points on 6 of 13 shooting with a team-high 9 rebounds. DJ Funderburk added 11 points and 6 rebounds to round out the group of double-digit scorers for NC State in the winning effort. Dorn leads NC State with an average of 14.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game while Markell Johnson leads the Wolfpack in assists with 4.1 assists per game this season. As a team, NC State is averaging the 6th-most points per game in the country, putting up 86.7 points per game, shooting 49.4% from the field, 38.1% from 3-point range and 69.8% from the foul line this season.
The Louisville Cardinals will be looking to add to their current 3-game winning streak after a 79-51 win over Georgia Tech in their last outing. Jordan Nwora led the Cardinals with 25 points on 10 of 16 shooting with 3 triples and 8 rebounds while Steven Enoch added 15 points and Malik Williams chipped in 13 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Louisville in the winning effort. Christen Cunningham fell one point shy of a double-double with 9 points to go along with his team-high 11 assists while Dwayne Sutton added 5 points and 8 rebounds of his own in the victory. Nwora leads Louisvills with an average of 18.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game while Cunningham leads the Cardinals in assists with 4.2 helpers per game this season. As a team, Louisville is averaging 79.9 points per game on 45.7% shooting from the field, 35.5% from behind the arc and 75.3% from the foul line this season.
NC State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games. Louisville is 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 conference games. The home team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 games between these two teams.
The Wolfpack, despite their solid offensive output this season, would be due for a loss given the pattern of their recent inconsistencies while Louisville has been flattening their opposition in conference, winning 4 of their 5 ACC games so far by double-digits. The home team has also had the bulk of the success against the spread when these two teams have met recently, so while the Cardinals have been a mixed bag of results, I’m not sure Louisville wins by double figures. But I definitely think Louisville can cover this one with free throws late so I’ll lay the points with Louisville here.
