Loyola Ramblers -5 O/U: 120.5
The Valparaiso Crusaders will meet the Loyola Ramblers in college basketball action in the Missouri Valley Tournament Friday.
Valparaiso enters this game at 15-17 overall this year. The Crusaders had lost six out of seven games heading into Thursday’s tourney opener, but managed a big win over Indiana State in that one.
In the Crusaders’ 77-55 victory, the top team scorer was Markus Golder, with 18 points and six rebounds. Javon Freeman logged 17 points with seven rebounds for Valparaiso also.
Over on the Loyola side, they’re 19-12 this season. The Ramblers are 3-1 over the last four games, falling to Southern Illinois and taking out Evansville, Northern Iowa and Bradley in that span.
In the win over Bradley, Loyola’s Marques Townes led the team on 26 points with three assists and one rebound. Cameron Krutwig added 16 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Ramblers in that one as well.
The Crusaders are 4-1 ATS in their last five Friday games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight overall. Valparaiso is 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight versus the Missouri Valley and 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Ramblers are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 neutral-site games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. Loyola is 8-23-1 ATS in their last 32 Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win.
Loyola has had some real breakdowns this year, but to their credit they’ve cleaned some things up and are looking better these days. Still, the Ramblers are as prone to outright stinkers as anyone else (like the second-half breakdown in the 63-53 loss to Southern Illinois) and I honestly don’t trust the team right now.
All of that said, the Ramblers are (or “should be”) in control here, and I’m likely going to go that way. Speaking realistically however, I’m not touching this game.
